Durham Craft Market :: On Foster Street and across from Durham Farmer's Market ::

Supporting local crafts people is a vital part of connecting with the rich traditions of our area. It just feels good to buy something from someone who put the care, time, and attention into creating something of beauty. And sometimes a handmade gift means much more. A contribution of beauty and often function is appreciated and respected here. You will find the artists here on Saturdays, from the first Saturday in April until November between 8 AM and 12 PM. Frosty’s Trading Post :: 2143 Jones Ferry Road, Pittsboro, NC :: 919-967-0744
Frosty's Trading Post has been a local landmark at Crawford Dairy Road and Jones Ferry Road for as long as anyone can remember. It's a good place to stop for a cola and a moon pie or to ask directions to Chicken Bridge. Chicken Bridge is another of our favorite local legends. At Frosty's you will feel like you are out in the country with pastures and plenty of trees yet this corner of Chatham County is home to several new communities like Deer Mountain, Cedar Grove, Stroud Mountain and Frosty Meadow.
Tupelo’s :: 101 North Churton Street, Hillsborough, NC :: 919-643-7722
Tupelo's is a great restaurant for an evening when there is a chill in the air. Their hot sweet cornbread and a cup of coffee is true comfort food. Their cajun menu will spice up the evening and warm up in a totally different way. And be sure to ask what's for dessert.
Warm evenings are great for sitting outside at the sidewalk tables right on Hillsborough's main street. If you linger past 9:00 you may hear some jazz drift up the street from the Blue Bayou Club. A good evening all around.
Eno Park Rock Quarry :: Howe Street park entrance ::
The Eno River Park Rock Quarry is the most relaxing place to cool off on a hot summer day just floating on an inner tube. Located in Northwest Durham right off I-85, this body of water makes a great place for an afternoon swim. Find your way to Sparger Road between Hillsborough Road and Cole Mill Road; just north of crossing I-85 turn on Howe Street. The Eno River Park entrance is at the end of the street. About a half mile walk from the parking lot to the quarry also makes it a good chance to get some exercise and enjoy the beauty of the forest. History buffs might enjoy knowing that the granite from this quarry was used in the construction of I-85 from Greensboro to Durham.
